Malaysia isn’t always the first to be in the pipeline for new gadgets in the tech world. The perfect example when it comes to smartphones will be Apple’s annual refresh of the iPhone, with Malaysia excluded from the list of forefront countries getting the new iPhone. The same goes for Xiaomi’s smartphones, but as the saying goes, “better late than never”. The Mi 6 is finally arriving to local shores.
Xiaomi has more or less confirmed the coming of the Mi 6, with a somewhat obvious teaser on their Facebook and Twitter accounts, with an image of a Snapdragon chipset – “8_5”. The caption asks fans to fill in the blank in the comments section.
It is rather obvious that the processor in question is the Snapdragon 835, and only one Mi handset carries the top notch SoC, the Mi 6. The Snapdragon 835 in the Mi 6 has 6GB of RAM, along with 64GB or 128GB of storage. We will most likely be getting the higher end variant, or even both.
Other specs include the 5.15-inch Full HD display, and the dual camera setup of 12MP rear sensors, an 8MP selfie camera and a 3,350mAh battery. A possible deal breaker is that the Mi 6 does not have a headphone jack, which means everything will have to go through the USB Type-C port.
That’s all we know for now of the the Malaysian Mi 6 launch. The exact launch date, pricing and availability have yet to be revealed. Will you be getting one yourself?
