LTE variant of the Samsung Gear S3 Classic launched

Samsung launched two smartwatches last year – the Gear S3 Classic and the Gear S3 Frontier. The Gear S3 Classic is the more elegant classic watch looking time piece whereas the Gear S3 Frontier sports a more rugged design, built for the wild. The problem is, consumers who wanted to opt for an LTE version of the Gear S3 only have the Frontier model as an option since the Classic did not have a LTE-enabled variant. Today, the South Korean manufacturer has finally unveiled the Samsung Gear S3 Classic LTE.

The Samsung Gear S3 Classic LTE is exclusively launched as a collaboration between South Korean local carrier SK Telecom and Samsung themselves, though we are not sure as to whether this new variant will be available outside this exclusive partnership. SK Telecom has the Gear S3 Classic LTE at a price of 451,000 Korean Won (RM1,718.77). As part of the launch, SK Telecom has designed three new watch faces with Samsung which are exclusively downloadable for the users of the Gear S3 Classic LTE at no cost from Samsung’s Galaxy Apps Store. What’s unique is that these three watch faces will have a night light mode and a ticking sound to resemble it closer to that of conventional analog watches.

The Samsung Gear S3 is deemed by many as one of the best smartwatches to date, despite it running on Samsung’s own Tizen OS. Android Wear smartwatches seem to be left biting a dust, but Android Wear 2.0 is finally arriving next month to breathe life into some of the older Android Wear devices.
