Live video streaming now available on Instagram

Instagram is probably the most copycat app ever. The photo sharing app has no doubt come a long way now, with many newly added features, receiving a couple of major ones in 2016 alone. However, the more recently added features were mostly inspired by other social media platforms, including this new one – live video streaming. The Facebook owned app has started rolling out the said feature beginning in the US.

Having added the Snapchat-esque Instagram Stories, the app now allows users to stream up to an hour’s worth of video to their fellow Instagrammers. All you have to do is to swipe right in the app, which brings out the Instagram camera, and a live video option which says “Start Live Video” will be available for selection. Tap on that and you will go live. You can also check out live streaming feeds from your friends on the Instagram Stories feed. Do note however, that the live streamed video will vanish immediately, unlike Instagram Stories.

Other known apps with live video streaming capabilities are Periscope, YouTube and Facebook. The rollout has begun in the US. As for users outside the region, the feature is expected to arrive within the next couple of weeks in gradual fashion. What do you think of Instagram’s new live video feature?
