Yesterday, we’ve reported that the launch of Android Nougat may be the first time a new version of Android was launched without being accompanied by the latest Nexus devices. Now, we know that the first smartphone that will come with Android Nougat right out of the box may not even be a Nexus-based device at all, as it appears that the upcoming LG V20 will be running on Nougat.
Scheduled for release in September, LG’s V20, the successor to the V10, will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. Specifications for the smartphone reveals that the V20 will feature a 5.5″ Full HD display and it will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor, 3 to 4GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, a microSD slot that is capable of expanding the phone’s storage capacity to up to 256GB, and a 4,000mAh battery. Camera-wise, the V20 will come with a 20MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The phone will come with a USB Type-C port.
As the release date for this year’s batch of Nexus devices are still unclear, the LG V20 looks set to be the first Nougat-powered smartphone in the market. Of course, anything can happen within the space of two months, so it is possible that the Nexuses may be launched just shortly before the V20.
