LG’s patent reveals a transparent foldable smartphone

Patents are getting crazier these days, and the latest one from LG shows a foldable smartphone that is also transparent.

This isn’t really the first time we’ve heard of a transparent phone since Sony has also filed for a patent for such design at the end of last year. However, it is a first for a phone to come with both transparent and also foldable designs.

Surprisingly, this patent is actually filed awhile back in 2015, so LG didn’t just get the idea because of the current foldable trend in smartphones. In this patent, the LG smartphone bends both ways —  front and back. It is also assumable that the phone will be partially transparent, just like the OLED TVs that LG demonstrated in CES recently.

While this patent looks like a very futuristic one, we can be sure that there’ll be various complications and will require even more efforts for it to become a real smartphone.
