While some brands haven’t even produce their first foldable smartphone, LG is already announcing its third dual-screen smartphone. But it isn’t anything like Samsung’s Galaxy Fold or HUAWEI’s Mate X; it’s a phone with an extra display that is attached to a case.
This phone is called the V60 ThinQ 5G. It comes with a 6.8-inch OLED panel — that’s almost as large as the Galaxy S20 Ultra — and has a waterdrop notch with a 10MP selfie camera. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with Qualcomm’s X55 modem and it has 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
So how does its dual-screen work? The secondary display is attached to a case, so you’ll need to place the V60 ThinQ 5G in the case to get two displays. It’s best for multitasking since you can open different apps at each screen, but you can also use it in landscape mode to do tasks like replying to emails and more.
The downside is it’s not exactly a continuous display, so you get an obvious gap in the middle between both displays. The second screen also has its own launcher and home screen which complicates things, and it doesn’t come with its own battery, so you’ll have to depend on the phone’s 5,000mAh battery.
LG also made sure the camera system is top-notch by including a 64MP sensor with 1/1.7-inch sensor, a 13MP ultrawide camera and a ToF sensor. Just like the Galaxy S20 Ultra, this phone is capable of 8K video recording.
The LG V60 ThinQ 5G will be priced at $699 including its Dual Screen case and will be released this spring.
