LG bounced back stronger in this year’s Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, completely doing away with the modular concept of its G5 flagship from last year, with the new nearly bezel-less G6 smartphone. LG’s 2017 flagship handset has since shown fruits of its success since it was unveiled at MWC last week, getting more than 40,000 pre-orders in its home land South Korea.

LG South Korea has recorded 40,000 pre-orders for the LG G6 over a duration of 4 days since its launch in Barcelona. That averages at 10,000 pre-orders per day. This early success is said to be fueled by a couple of factors. Firstly, the LG G6 has been made available to be tested in the 3,000 LG retail stores across South Korea beginning February 27. Another key factor is that consumers who pre-order the LG G6 will get 1 year screen replacement warranty, an original phone case, plus the purchase of accessories such as the Rolly keyboard 2, the LG TonePlus Bluetooth headset, and oddly enough, a Nescafe coffee machine.

The LG G6 sports a new screen aspect ratio of 18:9, making it more immersive and allowing for perfectly squared multi-window support. It sure looks like LG has been taking full advantage at the expense of a delayed Galaxy S8 launch by Samsung. What do you think?
