The LG G6 might have launched earlier, having been unveiled at MWC 2017 earlier this year but Samsung has taken the world by storm, announcing the Galaxy S8 and releasing the flagship handset nearly a week ago. Both the LG G6 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 are known for their minimal bezels and their new 18:9 and 18.5:9 display aspect ratios respectively, but the good news is that the former comes at a cheaper price.
The LG G6 carries a tamer price tag of RM2,999. The phone marks a comeback from LG’s experimental days when it unveiled the modular G5 last year, as the G6 isn’t modular by any means. The display is of QHD+ resolution measuring at 5.7-inches with an 18:9 aspect ratio as mentioned earlier. The phone sports a smaller form factor than usual 5.7-inchers out there as it has very tiny bezels surrounding its screen. Underneath the hood is a slightly older Snapdragon 821 processor but will still live up to its game in 2017. It also comes with 4GB of onboard RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
LG retained its dual camera setup with a 13MP + 13MP rear camera configuration on the G6. One is a standard sensor with OIS and the other is a wider lens. The front camera is of 5 megapixels. The G6 finally ditched its signature removable battery with a non-removable one this time of 3,300mAh. The non-removable battery also makes way for a welcome feature to the LG G6 – water and dust resistance.
The LG G6 will be made available in Malaysia beginning the first week of May at selected authorized retailers for RM2,999. LG has also thrown in a flip case worth RM174 if you purchase the G6. The phone will be offered in Astro Black, Ice Platinum and Mystic White color options. Would you get an LG G6 for yourself now that it’s available here in Malaysia?
