This year’s Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 Yoga will be out with new keyboards, some extra security features, and Wi-Fi 6 support.

Both laptops are pretty similar compared to their predecessors — excluding the updated features. Users can choose up to 16GB RAM and 2TB PCIe SSD storage and both have a 51Whr battery with Rapid Charge support.

What’s new is the updated keyboard with a set of buttons for instant Voice-over-IP access. It’s more convenient to make conference calls now because users can just do so directly using the F9 to F11 buttons. Users can also opt for Dolby Vision support and the new FHD display with 500 nits brightness for the laptops, which is also available with Lenovo’s PrivacyGuard screen filter that can prevent the screen from prying eyes. With PrivacyAlert, users will also be alerted when others are staring at their laptop screens.

Lenovo also mentioned that the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is part of Intel’s Project Athena innovation program, further establishing its flagship standard. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 and ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 5 are available later this year — the former starting at $1,499 while the latter starting at $1,599.
