Google’s first Tango handset, the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro was first announced back in June. The 6.4-inch phablet was initially set for a September release but was pushed back to “this fall” without a specific reason by either Google or Lenovo. Last month, Google’s head of VR Clay Bavor has stated that the Phab 2 Pro will see a release this month, and it looks like the phone is finally released for sale.
With the release of the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, Google has begun rolling out over 35 apps to its Play Store, which makes use of the phone’s Tango technology. The Tango apps will work the Tango sensors and cameras of the Phab 2 Pro, with the surrounding space. Google has also worked with developers to come out with some interesting Tango games that are kid friendly. For instance, Hot Wheels Track Builder allows you to build your custom tracks to race on, and Crayola Color Blaster in which players can color and paint on surfaces at home, virtually with Tango technology of course.
While most apps happen to be games, there are also work and design related apps for users to fiddle around with. The Measure app enables users to measure furnitures to door frames, and apps such as Lowe’s Vision and Homestyler Interior Design allows you to visualize furniture and appliances in your home space. Just to recap, the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro features a 6.4-inch display at QHD resolution, a Snapdragon 652 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The phone sports a 16MP rear camera plus an 8MP seflie camera on the front. Powering the phabelt is a huge 4,050mAh battery which can be rapidly charged with 2.4x turbo charge support. The Phab 2 Pro is currently available on Lenovo’s US website for $499.99 (RM2,088.16).
