Latest Beta version of Google Maps now comes with a parking availability notifier

After introducing a feature that would allow the app to highlight wheelchair-accessible areas, Google Maps has received yet another feature that would be a godsend for those who hate looking for a parking.

Available for selected users on the Google Maps v9.44 Beta, the application can now inform you of how difficult a particular location is to find parking. The feature will be shown in the app as a small P icon located next to the route duration estimate. Next to the icon is an indicator that informs you of how difficult it is to find parking at your destination. This indicator comes in three different levels: Limited, Medium and Easy. Expanding on the directions tab will give you a more detailed explanation of the parking situation.

Currently, the feature itself will identify parking availability in major locations such as transportation hubs like airports and train stations as well as malls. As the feature’s availability is limited at the moment, we don’t quite know if the feature will be made available outside of the States. Whatever the case, the parking availability feature will probably be making its way into the proper Google Maps app sometime soon.
