It is the same old chart updated with nearly the same old results yet again, as we take a look at the most recent results of Android distribution. The chart again shows how Google struggles year in year out with Android fragmentation. As usual, the chart displays ancient Android software versions still under operation till today, which isn’t alarming, but disappointing in some ways.
The adoption of Google’s latest Android Nougat finally surpasses the 1 percent mark, though it isn’t at all impressive, only scoring the same percentage like Marshmallow did at this time of last year. The slight increase in adoption is possibly due to most major manufacturers hurriedly pushing out their flavors of Android Nougat within these couple of weeks. Android Marshmallow on the other hand, still sees an increase in adoption with more than 30 percent in terms of distribution.
Android Lollipop still remains the highest adopted Android version at 32.9 percent, though the aging software took a slight plunge from last time. Kit Kat and Jellybean versions still take up more than a quarter of the pie chart, while the dinosaur age Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread Android software proudly stand at 1 percent each, after the extinction of Android Froyo not too long ago.
