The #benderaputih (white flag) campaign was introduced recently as a way for struggling folk to request aid, anonymously, during this EMCO; to complement the initiative is Kita Jaga Malaysia web app that lets users get assistance digitally.
Created by the local developers Terato Tech, the service allows users to signal for or to provide help and information by pinpointing their own location, or the location of food banks on a digital map.
Different types of requests are indicated by their designated icons – and distress calls are marked in red circles surrounding a white flag. These requests are filled with information such as the user’s name, address, and needs.
From there, you can share the distress call with your peers, or have the location open up in your Google Maps app.
We think this is great way to reach out or to provide help during these trying times – if you or anyone you know needs help; or if you’re able to provide assistance, you can visit the web app here to put out your signal.
