JDI might confirm a waterproof iPhone 7

Japan Display Inc (JDI) is one of the world’s leading display panel manufacturers for smartphones of different brands, and this includes Apple’s iPhones. With Japan Display being one of Apple’s display manufacturers, rumor has it that Japan Display’s recent announcement might confirm that the iPhone 7 will be waterproof.

Not too long ago, Japan Display has announced that its second generation of Pixel Eyes LCD screen is beginning its mass production. The new generation of Pixel Eyes will sport a narrower bezel at 0.5mm, although small in number, a significant decrease from the first generation’s 0.8mm bezel. Japan Display claims the new display to have deeper blacks and the ability to use a stylus as thin as 1mm.

The main highlight of the second generation Pixel Eyes display is that it operates with wet fingers, according to Japan Display. This might confirm rumors of a waterproof iPhone 7, with the possibility that the device will be shipped with Japan Display’s new Pixel Eyes panel this year. There have been rumors about an AMOLED screen iPhone 7, but it looks like Apple is sticking with LCD panels for now.

Looking forward to a waterproof iPhone? Stay tuned as we bring you more updates.
