iPhone 7 the best selling phone in Q3 2017

It is pretty much known now that the iPhone 8 series by Apple isn’t going to sell as well as its previous iterations. That is of course due to the existence of the revolutionary iPhone X. Statistics do tell us that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus aren’t the most popular smartphones around. Instead, in Q3 of this year, the iPhone 7 turned out to be the best seller globally.

A total of 13 million iPhone 7 units were sold in Q3 2017. The second placed smartphone comes as a surprise as well – the iPhone 6s. At a little over two years old now since its launch back in 2015, the iPhone 6s has proven to remain very popular, with 7.9 million units sold.

Samsung of course, has one of its handsets among the top 5, but it isn’t the Galaxy S8. The South Korean manufacturer’s Galaxy J2 Prime sold a total of 7.8 million units in the quarter, possibly due to demands from developing countries. The 4th and 5th place are both occupied by OPPO smartphones. The Chinese company has had a strong presence in the Asian market, which explains the OPPO A57 and the R11 taking 4th and 5th place, shipping 7.8 million and 7.2 million units respectively.

Samsung still remains the top smartphone vendor in Q3 2017, while Apple takes second place. Third placed Huawei is still busy playing chase with the Cupertino company, while OPPO and Xiaomi take 4th and 5th respectively.
