As we prep for Apple iPhone 11’s arrival past midnight today, prolific Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has given us a little taste of what’s to come – or rather not coming.
According to a report by 9to5 Mac, Apple will not introduce the new devices with Apple Pencil support as previously suggested. Not really a big deal – but we reckon there are some folks who would’ve found that feature to be useful on their iPhone.
Kuo also notes that we shouldn’t expect support for bilateral wireless charging, or in other words reverse charging. Competitors Samsung managed to fit this feature in their Galaxy S10 series, while Huawei did it with the P30 Pro. Previous reports suggested that Apple would equip the iPhone 11 with bigger batteries to accommodate for this feature, so if Kuo is right, then we might not see an upsize in batteries after all.
But to make up for it, Apple will apparently include 18W fast chargers in the box – you’d previously only get a 5W charger with the iPhone X series of phones. Sounds good until you hear that Apple most likely won’t make the switch to USB Type-C for charging, and will instead opt to stick with Lightning.
9to5Mac’s report ends by saying that the iPhone 11 could potentially see a drop in at least 5 percent in shipment due to “a lack of innovative selling points”. But with the launch happening at Cupertino later, we’ll get to see if the iPhone 11 is a worthy buy.
