Apple is clearly going all-in on its M1 chip on Macs and for those who still owns an Intel based Mac, you are probably going to miss out future features as time goes on, starting with the upcoming macOS Monterey. Here are a list of them:
- FaceTime Portrait Mode, which blurs your background on a FaceTime video call
- Live Text, which lets you extract text in images and photos
- Apple Maps new globe view and detailed maps in major US cities
- Natural text-to-speech in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, and Finnish
- Offline, on-device dictation without a time limit
These are some major features which could affect a number of users, it is also something we can anticipate that’s coming to macOS since Apple really wants its user base to start to adapt Apple Silicon powered systems, not forgetting to mention that we might even see apps dropping support for Intel powered Macs soon enough.
This is probably a good time to ponder about upgrading your existing Intel powered Macs, as we definitely have no clue on what feature Apple is about to omit even on a minor macOS update.
