Intel Kaby Lake powered iMac leaked online

Following the launch of the iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch Series 2, Apple is expected to refresh their Mac’s later this month. Last weekend, a 27-inch iMac with Intel’s latest Kaby Lake processor was spotted lurking around at Best Buy’s online store. The alleged leak by the US major retailer has given us some ideas as to what to expect from Apple when it refreshes its Macbook’s and iMac’s later this month.

Based on the screenshot captured by Apple Insider, the alleged 27-inch iMac sports the new 7th gen Intel i7 processor. The rest of the specs remain pretty much the same, with the Retina 5K display, 32GB of RAM, plus a 2TB Fusion Drive. So we can safely assume that the iMac will only be getting a minor upgrade this year, which isn’t something new based on Apple’s desktop refresh history. However, one thing to note that the “new” iMac on Best Buy has the image of an iMac with the old Mac OS X El Capitan desktop wallpaper, which can be just a minor error, or render the whole post as just a mistake.

Having said that, Apple is expected to shift its focus a little more to its Macbook’s, which are rumored to have USB Type-C ports, a fingerprint sensor, plus an OLED touchscreen right above the keyboard, based on concept renders and alleged leaks. Who knows? The new Macbook’s might be running on Intel’s Kaby Lake processors as well. What do you think?
