Smart glasses are a big hit and miss, with companies as big as Google trying and failing and others taking out wacky looking glasses that is a big turn off to put on your head. It looks like Intel is no giving up and has created what looks like the most practical option for smart glasses.
The Vaunt looks like any other glasses you have seen, it weights under 50g and comes with no camera. On the inside of the glasses’ stem is where the magic happens. There is a low-powered class one laser, processor, accelerometer, Bluetooth chip and compass. The Vaunt works by projecting a red, monochrome image into your eye with a resolution of 400 x 150 pixel. You might be worried that a laser is pointing straight at your eye, but Intel has assured that the laser is so low-powered that it sits at the bottom of the class one group of lasers, so no harm will come to your eyes. The image projected can be something as simple as notifications from your phone or even a recipe while you are cooking and the image will not be out of focus as its beaming straight into your eye.
The Vaunt can be controlled using motion gestures like a nod of the head and future models will come with a microphone and smart assistants equipped.
