Instagram has been working hard to bring new features to its users, as proven recently by Jane Manchun Wong and her reverse engineering skills.

From the list of unreleased features Wong has mentioned in her blog, three of them are relevant to Instagram Stories. According to Wong, Instagram may be introducing new camera modes icons, boomerang modes and also layouts to Stories. We’re all familiar with the camera modes Instagram Stories, but now these modes will have icons with different gradients so that they’re more distinguishable.

Boomerang is also one of the most used modes when it comes to posting Instagram Stories. In the future, we may be able to see different modes of Boomerang called Hold, Dynamic, Slowmo and Duo. Wong demonstrated how these modes work by creating a web-based emulation. As for layouts, Wong believes that the different layouts will be released soon.

Apart from the Stories-related features, Instagram will introduce notification filters so that the different type of notifications will no longer be grouped together. In the future, Instagram users will be able to filter their notifications by comments or new followers. The company also plans to bring App and Websites Settings to the mobile app, so hopefully next time we can delete our Instagram accounts via the app itself instead of having to go through Instagram’s website.
