IFA 2017: The Sony RX0 is a dream action camera for professionals

When it comes to professional action cameras, there aren’t a lot of choices in the market, and Sony is filling that gap with the new RX0 action camera, which packs a 1-inch Exmor sensor 15.3-megapixel sensor into a GoPro-sized body, most action cameras have only managed to squeeze in a 1/2.3-inch sensor, so that’s a pretty huge step forward for an action camera, the RX0 will be able to capture better details and potentially have decent performance in low light.

Like the other RX siblings, the RX0 has a ZEISS lens which is a ZEISS Tessar T* 24mm f/4 lens, it has a maximum shutter speed of 1/32000 and can capture burst shots up to 16 fps. The RX0 has a maximum ISO of 12,800 and can produce RAW still photos, unlike other action cameras it doesn’t support recording 4K videos internally, but it does offer a clean 4K output to external devices to do that, hence you are very much limited to recording up to 1080p60. The real killer feature here however, is that it supports 960 fps super slow motion recording, and Sony is also letting users to link up to 15 RX0 cameras at the same time with the Sony FA-WRC1M wireless radio commander.

The Sony RX0’s price tag is pretty reasonable at $700 for what it is capable of, and it will be available in the US at October 2017, so get ready your wallets.
