Previously we mentioned about a leak on Intel’s new processor to rival the monstrous AMD Threadripper processor and today at Computex, Intel has just revealed their i9 processor and rival it did, in the form of their Core X-series processor which is the company’s first 18-core processor, the i9-7980XE.

The processor is not going to be seen in any regular setup, it is catered to more power users that might want to do things like game in 4K and broadcast footage to Twitch in HD and if the number of cores is not enough to convince you of its power, it will also come with over a teraflop of computing power. The processor will also come in different core variants such as 10, 12 and 16-cores and, features base clock speeds of 3.3GHz, 4.3GHz on Turbo Boost 2.0 and 4.5GHz with Turbo Boost 3.0.

With this amount of power required to run the processor, it is expected that temperatures will rise, therefore, Intel has developed its own liquid cooling solution which will work across these processors and some previous generations.

The 18-core i9-7980XE will retail for $1,999 and the 10-core i9-7900X retails for $999 which is much cheaper from the last year’s 10-core i7 processor.
