The Huawei P30 may have been the highlight in Huawei’s launch event in Paris, it has also introduced the Huawei FreeLace, a pair of over the neck wireless earphones that looks very much like a pair of BeatsX, but what’s really interesting here is how it is able to pair with phones and get charged, as one side of the cord lets you detach the headphones and unveils a USB-C port for charging and pairing purposes.
Like Apple’s AirPods, Huawei has made pairing the FreeLace easier on a Huawei smartphone, as users will only need to connect the headphone’s USB-C connector to their phones to get it done, Huawei is calling its fast pairing technology Huawei HiPair, which is supported on its devices that run on EMUI 9.1.
The FreeLace is quite a solid performer in battery life, as Huawei quotes that it could offer up to four hours of listening time in a mere 5 minutes charging time, while it supports up to 18 hours of music playback and 13 hours of talk time in a single charge. Sound is delivered by a large 9.2mm dynamic driver unit, which should deliver some great dynamics and soundstage, its built-in microphone has also been optimized to reduce wind-noise when making voice calls.
Huawei is selling the FreeLace for €99 (RM454) in European markets, and we should expect them to launch in Malaysia shortly with a lower price tag.
