The Huawei Mate 9 has been rumored for quite some time now, slated for a debut later this year, with many speculating a November launch. Although the Mate 9’s official launch has yet to be confirmed, a Chinese online retailer might have dropped a couple of hints telling us that Huawei’s next flagship will be arriving pretty soon.
Chinese online retailer Jing Dong (JD.com) has slashed the price of the current 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant of the Huawei Mate 8 from 2,699 CNY (RM1,680.76) to 2,199 CNY (RM1,369.39). The phone previously saw a price cut from the initial 2,999 CNY (RM1,867.58) a while back at IFA 2016 Berlin. Furthermore, the carrier model of the Mate 8 under Chinese major telco Unicom has also gotten a significant price reduction to an attractive 1,999 CNY (RM1,244.84) price point.
The discounted Huawei Mate 8 handsets on Jing Dong do heavily hint at an impending Huawei Mate 9 launch very soon. The upcoming flagship phablet is rumored to sport HiSilicon Kirin 960 processing chip underneath the hood, with 4GB and 6GB RAM configurations, plus storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Leica is expected to make an appearance again, chipping in for the Mate 9’s rumored dual rear camera setup of 20MP + 12MP. The handset has also said to feature Huawei’s new Super Charge technology, giving a 50% charge in only 5 minutes.
