This is truly Huawei’s best track record ever, as the company has made an announcement via its Facebook page that the P20 Pro will receive the Android Pie update starting today, which makes this the very first Android smartphone in the market to be upgraded to Google’s latest operating system from Android Oreo.
While you may start to hit that System Update button right now, don’t fret if you don’t receive the update as it will be delivered in batches, so expect a notification to pop up sometime this week. Before that, you will also need to ensure that all of your data is backed up properly as a major software update can usually cause unfortunate bricks and eventually made you lose your data.
Android Pie brings many refinements to the table, while Huawei still have its usual EMUI customizations running on top, you should expect much better performance and battery life than Android Oreo, improved notifications and security features.
