Huawei nova 8 launched: Packs a Kirin 820E, curved 90Hz display, and 64MP quad-camera

The Huawei nova 8 is now official and it packs a host of premium features, while being priced at just RM1,899.

The phone sports a 6.57-inch FHD+ OLED display which also supports a 90Hz refresh rate. The panel is curved on the sides and there’s a punch hole camera module at the top of the screen too. Plus, tt supports 10bit colour output, a DCI-P3 colour gamut, and offers a 329ppi pixel density.

For imaging, the phone comes with a 64MP main lens, an 8MP ultrawide shooter, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, you get a 32MP shooter. The lenses are placed in an oblong-shaped module, and the circular lenses it houses were apparently inspired by the rings of Saturn, says Huawei.

Under the hood, the nova 8 packs a Kirin 820E chipset which is a 6-core processor built on a 7nm process. It is worth noting that this is a weaker chipset compared to the Kirin 985 that was used in original nova 8 launched in its native China.

Powering all this is a 3,800mAh battery, and there’s also support for 66W of Huawei Super Charge fast charging – the brand claims that this is able to power the nova 8 up to 60 percent from zero in just 15 minutes.

The phone is only available in Brush Gold, and your purchase will snag you an ‘Entertainment Gift Pack’ worth RM189 if you purchase from their website, or Shopee and Lazada stores
