The year 2020 looks to already be an exciting one for Huawei – the P40 series has been confirmed by CEO Richard Yu to arrive in March; and to add to that is the introduction of a new-and-improved Huawei Mate X, which will mark its debut at MWC 2020 in February.
The original foldable device was launched only in China, and has yet to hit global markets after a succession of delays – so this new Mate X is reportedly better than the last with improvements made to the hinge, screen and hardware – namely a Kirin 990 chipset.
WCCF Tech reports that the new foldable product will be likely to hit European markets by Q1 2020, which is very soon. However, the 5G Kirin 990 could also very well be a China-only device – but a global launch is still possible, only much later.
As with all new Huawei devices, GMS will be absent, with HMS in its place. With the Samsung Galaxy Fold now fool-proof and selling at a respectable rate, the improved Huawei Mate X could disrupt Samsung’s momentum in the foldable arena.
