Huawei today announced that a new system update for the Mate 9 series will be rolling out beginning 9 December 2017 which will bring the latest version of EMUI 8.0 to the phones. The update is targeted to bring about the smartphone experience that was seen in the newer Mate 10 series.

The company also mentioned that the Mate 9 Pro PORSCHE DESIGN will also be updated by the end of December 2017. The new update will bring about better battery management by allowing users to enjoy better battery endurance and faster speeds on the phone. With EMUI 8.0 on the phones, users can take advantage of the smart features on the phone. For example, the software will recommend users activate the eye comfort mode when the screen is too bright which can filter out blue light rays and relieve eye fatigue. Other than that, users can also place a navigation dock for their home button and shortcut dock anywhere on the screen. Users can also access shortcuts into the app by long pressing it and 3D panorama where still images can be viewed in 3D mode for a new type of photo viewing experience.
