Huawei has officially launched the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro in Malaysia, introducing its latest flagship smartphone that focuses on advanced mobile imaging, durability and intelligent performance. The launch also brings several new ecosystem devices including the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 5, HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate 2 in Green, and the HUAWEI FreeClip 2 in Rose Gold.
Advanced Triple Camera System with True-to-Colour Imaging

The HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro introduces a new camera architecture designed to deliver precise imaging across different focal lengths. The smartphone features a triple-camera system consisting of a 50MP Ultra Lighting Camera with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, a 48MP Ultra Lighting Telephoto Macro camera with 4× optical zoom, and a 40MP ultra-wide camera.
Huawei’s enhanced True-to-Colour Camera System ensures colour accuracy and balanced tones across different lighting environments, maintaining natural textures and lifelike colours from bright outdoor scenes to low-light indoor conditions.

Photography is further enhanced with AI-powered features including AI Composition, which provides real-time framing guidance by analysing scene elements such as lighting, lines and subject positioning to suggest optimal framing. Additional AI tools include AI Remove for eliminating unwanted objects in photos and AI Best Expression, which intelligently selects the best facial expressions from multiple shots to create the best group photo.
Premium Design and Enhanced Durability

Continuing the Mate series design identity, the device features Huawei’s signature Dual Space Ring camera design that blends symmetry with modern aesthetics. The phone is available in Gold, Green and Black finishes inspired by natural elements.
Durability has also been upgraded with second-generation Kunlun Glass, featuring high-strength nanocrystals that provide up to 20 times stronger drop resistance compared to conventional glass. The device is further protected by an ultra-durable vegan fibre back panel.
The Mate 80 Pro also carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings, offering resistance against water immersion up to six metres and protection against high-pressure water jets. Cooling is handled by Huawei’s SuperCool Dual Phase Change heat dissipation system, improving thermal efficiency by 16 percent and reducing temperature rise by 33 percent.
“See, Truly Malaysia” Photography Campaign
In conjunction with the launch, Huawei Malaysia has partnered with Tourism Malaysia to introduce the “See, Truly Malaysia” photography campaign. The initiative highlights Malaysia’s landscapes, culture and heritage captured through the Mate 80 Pro’s imaging system.
Huawei also announced the XMAGE Awards 2026 photography competition in Malaysia, running from 23 March to 16 August 2026, encouraging users to showcase Malaysian stories through mobile photography.
