HUAWEI has something up their sleeves to attract more customers — an all-screen smartphone. According to a tweet by Atherton Research’s Jeb Su, the company plans to launch this all-screen device in Paris on October 17.
@Huawei announced today that it will launch a new All-Screen Smartphone Category on October 17 in Paris, France which we expect will include an in-display selfie camera and fingerprint reader #AllThingsMobile #AthertonResearch pic.twitter.com/j8jPhutBsk

This time, the company is not going to get a full screen display by adding a pop-up mechanism or a slider. Instead, they will be integrating an in-display selfie camera and in-display fingerprint sensor. A few months back, companies like OPPO and Xiaomi have already revealed their under-display camera technology — though there’s no consumer smartphone that comes with the technology yet.

In the tweet posted by OPPO on June 3, the under-display camera only shows up when needed and when not in use, it’ll become invisible and won’t even take up the screen space. If HUAWEI is for real, then the company might be the first to release an in-display camera phone.
That being said, HUAWEI’s all-screen smartphone will probably face the same fate as the Mate 30 series — getting shipped without Google services. But if somehow HUAWEI gets to develop their own OS to be as successful as Google’s, then they shouldn’t be worried about their smartphone sales.
