Huawei handsets will have Truecaller app pre-installed

Truecaller has successfully struck a deal with Chinese manufacturer Huawei to have its app pre-installed on its phones to be shipped. The partnership between both Huawei and Truecaller will be kicking off next month when the Honor 8 units start shipping out, meaning that the Honor 8 will be the first phone by the company to have the app pre-installed.

While some may deem this sort of agreement as more bloatware for Huawei phones, Truecaller is a caller ID app which identifies phone numbers for users, plus allowing users to block unwanted calls or hidden numbers. The app has a pretty impressive track record as well, boasting over 100 million downloads on the Google Play Store, more than 250 million downloads if you count in the iOS platform, while having 90 million active users currently.

The agreement seems to cover Huawei phones from all region, except for its home country, China. Though it wouldn’t make much of a difference since Chinese variants of phones usually have a ton of less than useful apps pre-installed in them, or better described as bloatware. On another note, Truecaller has already scored deals with a couple of smartphone makers before Huawei – Blu, Lenovo and LG.

Having said that, Truecaller does come with its own nifty features for users to be singled out from the bloatware category. What do you think about this move by Huawei and Truecaller?
