Just when we thought we’re done with smartphone companies making a fool out of themselves by using their competitors’ smartphones, Huawei decided to make sure they’re the first company to continue the trend in 2019.
Posting on Twitter, the company proceeded to wish the public Happy New Year yesterday and attached a video with the tweet. What’s amusing is that the post was labelled “Twitter for iPhone”, and the online community once again took the chance to ridicule the company for the mistake made.
What’s more amusing to us Malaysians is that Huawei Malaysia also retweeted the post and in addition to that, they’ve also posted a tweet on the last day of 2018 via iPhone. Seems like unlike Samsung who takes turn in posting tweets via iPhone with weeks of gap between their mistakes, Huawei prefers getting embarrassed in one shot.
I see that you deleted the older tweet

Of course, there’s no doubt that Huawei quickly fixed their mistake, removing the said tweet and posting a new one that’s from “Twitter Media Studio”. Sadly, the online community already know what’s going on and continues to joke about it.
Now we’ve already gone through this for quite a number of times, and we’re pretty sure that the tweets are probably not posted by the company’s employee but a third party instead like a PR company or an outsourced marketing agency. Despite that, it’s still a moment worth mocking, and smartphone companies should have been more cautious when it comes to these things.
Our solution? Either you get your own employees to manage your Twitter account, or ensure that whoever you hire is not using an iPhone. Though I really wish that these smartphone companies will stop embarrassing themselves, chances are this is not the end of it, and we’ll be seeing more of this ridiculous moments throughout 2019.
