HTC an unveiled its newest flagship device, the HTC U12+, a decent upgrade from the U11+ when it comes to camera and specs. Other than that, they have also improved the squeeze sensors on the sides and there are even pressure-sensitive buttons which all can be mapped to your preference.

The HTC U12+ comes with a 6-inch IPS QHD+ screen, Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage. Powering the device is a 3,500mAh battery and it has an IP68 certification. One of the major things is that the U12+ comes with no notch on the screen, instead, it offers very thin bezels on the top and bottom which is perfect for holding it in landscape mode while watching a video. Speaking of watching videos, this phone also comes with HTC’s Boomsound which sounds as good, if not better than the previous U11+.

Edge Sense has also been improved as it now allows you to program your own shortcuts by tapping, holding and squeezing the side of the phone. The squeeze sensors have also been improved to feel more natural and easier to trigger. Lastly, the sensors will also detect how you are holding the phone and stops itself from rotating from portrait to landscape which is nice for those of you that lye down on your bed and having a quick read before sleeping.

Camera wise, it comes with a 12MP primary sensor and a 16MP telephoto lens, which is said to capture excellent details and colour. The front also houses a dual-camera setup with 8MP for both the sensors which also performs great. DxOMark has awarded the U12+ with a score of 103, putting it just below the 109 P20 Pro, above the 102 P20 and way higher than the 90 that the U11 earned.

The phone will launch by the end of June 2018 and comes in three colours Ceramic Black, Flame Red and Translucent Blue which comes with a see-through glass back similar to the Translucent colour on the U11+. The U12+ will cost $799 for the 64GB variant and $849 for the 128GB variant.
