HTC has produced one of the better-looking smartphones we have seen and they are also pretty good phones. However, it would seem like they want to move over to everyday products we use around our homes but with some intelligence. They have developed a light bulb that can detect when a human has fallen in a room lit by the blub.

They achieved this based on parts from the HTC Vive, the bulb works by detecting if a person is sitting in a place for too long, the Sedentariness Reminder Function will be indicated to the person that sitting too long is not healthy. It is still unsure how the bulb will notify the person in the room, but the app can also detect if a person in the room has fallen and can’t get up and it will call an ambulance immediately.

It is a very interesting move by HTC to venture into smart appliances but it could also be thanks to Google who recently brought a big part of the company to help develop technologies for the tech giant.
