Just a couple of days back, HTC brought its attractive looking Desire 650 smartphone to Malaysia. The handset featured an interesting design, with a 50/50 smooth and grooved texture on its back panel. It was already pretty affordable for an entry level smartphone at RM799, but it has since received a significant price drop, only a day after its unveiling here in Malaysia.

The HTC Desire 650 is only officially four days old in Malaysian shores, but has gotten nearly a quarter of its price slashed, a 22.6 percent reduction to be more precise. This means that the phone now costs only RM619 instead of the older RM799 price tag, which gives you more reasons to get hold of it.

To recap, the HTC Desire 650 has a 5-inch 720p display, a MediaTek MT6737t processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phone sports a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie snapper, plus a 3,000mAh battery for its power needs. One thing to note is that the variant sold here in Malaysia is the dual SIM variant.

The price revision of the HTC Desire 650 is likely to be permanent, since there wasn’t any mention of a temporary discount or promotion by HTC. A RM180 price cut is definitely a significant one for a sub RM1,000 smartphone. What do you think?
