HTC announces Viveport app store

During the world largest VR expo in Los Angeles – VRLA, Vive announced Viveport, an app store that features a wide range of VR experiences across education, design, art, social, video, music, sports, health, fashion, travel, news, shopping, creativity tools, and more. The Viveport store will be available in all Vive headsets, web browsers, and as a PC and mobile app.

Viveport is built to allow long-term engagement and monetisation for creators and developers as it will feature pay-to-download, in-app purchases, subscriptions and other revenue generating opportunities. On top of that, Vive will also roll out new platform features that supports content creation, distribution, and customer engagement. With this type of support, hopefully we will see more content to enjoy on the Vive.

According to Cher Wang, CEO of HTC, he said, “Our mission is to unleash human imagination from the limitations of reality, and Viveport will be an important cornerstone in democratising access to the world’s most diverse selection of immersive experiences.”
