HONOR X8a unveiled in Malaysia with 100MP Ultra Camera System for RM999

After announcing the HONOR X9a 5G last month, HONOR Malaysia is introducing the successor to the X8 smartphone with an ‘a’ moniker, which stands for ‘Advanced’ as explained by the brand when it launched the X9a 5G.

The HONOR X8a features a 6.7-inch IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate, it employs the Mediatek Helio G88 chipset for its power and is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage, storage is however still not expandable like its predecessor. Battery size has been bumped up from 4000mAh to 4500mAh and continues to support 22.5W Honor SuperCharge fast charging.

What makes things interesting is the phone’s camera system, as the HONOR X8a is equipped with a 100MP f/1.9 main camera that’s assisted by a 5MP ultrawide and depth camera, and a 2MP macro camera, the main camera should allow users to crop into images without compromising too much detail, which is a good thing as it doesn’t come with a telephoto lens, video recording resolution is however limited to just 1080p due to technical limitations of the Helio G88 chipset.

However, given that the Helio G88 chipset technically only supports up to 64MP cameras, the HONOR X8a’s 100MP resolution might be an interpolated resolution. Selfies are managed by a front facing 16MP resolution camera.

The HONOR X8a can now be purchased at HONOR stores, Shopee, Lazada and HONOR dealers nationwide for RM999, customers will receive free gifts worth RM258 including an HONOR SuperCharge Car Charger and 1+1 Year Extended Warranty.
