Honor says its Magic 4 smartphone is a ‘pain point killer’

After breaking up with Huawei, Honor has finally unveiled its very first flagship smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2022, the Honor Magic 4 series are what CEO George Zhao calls it the ‘pain point killer’, as it resolves several issues that most current flagship phones still possess.

Comprising the Honor Magic 4 and Magic 4 Pro, these phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and will come with the same storage configuration of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, Honor has also incorporated technologies such as Honor Turbo Engine, Honor OS Turbo X and GPU Turbo X optimizations that maximizes the chip’s performance and deliver better gaming performance than the competition.

Sporting a 6.81-inch LTPO Quad-curved display, the Honor Magic 4 Pro’s display has an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, it produces over 1 billion colors and covers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, hence it is capable of playing HDR10+ content.

The Honor Magic 4 Pro is IP68 water resistant and the regular Magic 4 is IP54 rated, which is the first time that Honor has included on its smartphones. In terms of cameras, both phones will come with a triple camera system, the Magic 4 Pro has  a 50MP wide, 50MP ultrawide, and 64MP periscope telephoto lens that achieves 3.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom, while the Magic 4 only differs in a lower resolution 8MP periscope telephoto lens that does 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom.

Front camera wise, they both come with 12MP shooters with the exception of an extra 3D depth camera on the Magic 4 Pro.

Videography is also a big thing on the Honor Magic 4 Pro as the company claims that it captures higher video quality than the others with its Dual Chain Computational Photography and Videography Algorithm, this is also the first smartphone that can capture 10-bit Log 4K video in 60fps, which allows content creators to do post color grading.

Battery life should be pretty good with a 4600mAh battery that can be juiced up in no time with 100W Wired Honor SuperCharge, which Honor claims a mere 30 minutes to fully charge the phone.

The Honor Magic 4 series will ship with Android 12 and Magic UI 6.0, availability will begin on Q2 2022 onwards while they will be available in color options of Cyan and Gold when it arrives in Malaysia
