We’ve just been treated to an early hands-on of the HONOR MagicBook 14 laptop, and it’s slightly different from the global variant that we saw launched in Barcelona last month.
The 14-inch laptop is built in a 13-inch frame and boasts a FHD IPS panel with rather thin side bezels. The top bezel houses the webcam, which differs from the global variant which is housed under the keyboard.
The laptop is aluminium all around and is only available in Space grey – so no Azure Blue Chamfer variant here.
In terms of I/O ports you get a USB-C charging and data transfer port, one USB3.0, one USB2.0, one HDMI, and on 3.5mm headphone jack.
Under the hood – everything remains quite similar. Think an AMD Ryzen 3500U CPU with Radeon Vega 8 discreet graphics. For memory, you get 8GB DDR4 RAM (2,400MHz); and 512GB PCIe SSD for storage. This is the only configuration you’ll get as they’re not upgradeable.
In terms of features, you get four speakers – two on the sides of the keyboard and two more on the bottom. Along with Dolby Atmos, the MagicBook 14 is capable of 3D surround sound output.
Powering the device is a 57.6 Wh battery with support of 65W fast charging via USB C. The charger can also be used to charge your mobile devices.
Speaking of mobile devices, there’s also Magic-Link 2.0 that lets you tap your HONOR or Huawei device (Android 10) on your laptop and access your smartphone on there.
The Malaysian pricing and availability was not disclosed during the media briefing, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated on when have more information.
