We recently put two budget fitness trackers — the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Fit-e — to the test, which you can watch here.

Today however, HONOR has launched their entry that competes directly with the aforementioned devices.

The HONOR Band 5 is priced exactly the same as the Xiaomi Mi Band 4, but that’s not the only thing that’s similar. The HONOR also sports a 0.95 AMOLED full colour display with touchscreen capabilities.

With a full colour display, you can look forward to customizing your watch face with colourful designs.

Other features include 24-hour heart rate tracking, meaning it can detect irregularities in your heart rate throughout the day. With that also comes sleep tracking – HONOR employs the help of Huawei TruSleep technology for this – it identifies six common sleeping problems with 200 personalized sleep quality assessments.

The HONOR Band 5 is water-resistant up to 50 meters and even has swim stroke recognition, so your speed, distance and calories burned can be tracked more accurately. In terms of personal trainer modes, there are 10 to choose from.

As a competitor to the Xiaomi Mi Band 4, the HONOR allows you to read messages too; but what it has in addition is a native remote picture taking feature – how cool is that.

The HONOR sports a 100mAh battery that HONOR claims offers up to 14 days of standby time. You only require the Huawei Health app to sync up with the Band 5 and change watch faces.

Priced at RM149, you can purchase it now from HONOR’s official online store. You will only get the black strap variant, while other colour options will be sold separately.
