HONOR 9X Pro — first HONOR phone to come with HUAWEI Mobile Services

UPDATE: The HONOR 9X Pro will be available in Malaysia this March priced at €249 (RM1,142).

The HONOR 9X Pro may be debuting globally on February 24, but we’ve managed to get a short session with the phone, so here’s all you need to know about the HONOR 9X Pro.

The HONOR 9X Pro is pretty similar to its sibling, but better. It sports the same 6.59-inch FullView display and comes with a 16MP pop-up camera, but its rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is replaced with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor — just like the HONOR 20 series.

The phone also has a Dynamic X design like the Sapphire Blue variant of the HONOR 9X, but this time HONOR uses a shiny gradient effect on its 3D curved glass panel. While the global launch should reveal the 9X Pro in two colours, only the Phantom Purple option will be available in Malaysia.

The device comes in one configuration — 6GB RAM and 256GB storage. It is powered by a Kirin 810 chipset which uses a 7nm process instead of the 12nm process in the Kirin 710f chipset that powers the HONOR 9X. With the Kirin 810 chipset, the 9X Pro also has better camera performance as it supports ISO up to 102400.

In terms of battery, the 9X Pro doesn’t differ from its siblings; it has a 4,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging. It also has the same 48MP camera paired with an 8MP super wide angle camera and a 2MP depth sensor.

However, the HONOR 9X Pro will be the first HONOR device to start using HUAWEI Mobile Services instead of Google Mobile Services. This might be a deciding factor for most of us out there, especially if we’re strongly attached to Google Play Store.

The HONOR 9X Pro will be launched pretty soon, but no exact date and pricing for the device has been revealed yet.
