You heard the news for a long time that Honor is releasing the 8 Pro, an upgrade to the already popular Honor 8, and now it’s finally here in Malaysia. The improvements on phone can be seen in the bigger battery, more powerful processor, 5.7-inch Quad HD screen and dual-lens camera that is fit into a slim 6.97mm body.
The phone was engineered for high-performance usage with the eight core Kirin 960 processor made for resource demanding applications and games. Thanks to these upgrades, single-core performance is upgraded by 10% and multi-core by 18%. The Mali-G71 supports Vulkan graphics and compute API, boosting graphics performance by 400%. Accompanied by the new EMUI 5.1, the new system uses machine learning from your behaviours and habits to minimise lag and ensure applications load smoothly. The new system will also anticipate your needs to pre-load applications to make the experience even better.
Despite the slim form factor, the phone’s 4,000mAh battery will provide you with 2 days of battery life and 1.5 days of high usage, not to mention the advanced power-saving feature that will keep your worries of the phone dying at bay. The Smart Power 5.0 technology helps to maximise battery life by automatically identifying and killing apps that draw too much power from the phone and minimising power consumption of background running applications.
The Quad HD screen will make games and multimedia content pop with the highest levels of colour accuracy and detail. The display features a high resolution of 515ppi, 16700K colours and 94.5% coverage of NTSC colour gamut. The Honor 8 Pro is also VR-Ready, with a bundled cardboard viewer and pre-installed Jaunt VR app.
A lot of thought was put into the 12MP dual-camera on the back, where one camera will capture the image in black-and-white and the other will capture in RGB, offering a vivid colour reproduction. Combining with the camera software, pictures produced can rival the DSLR camera quality. With the new EMUI which is co-developed with GoPro, it can intelligently organise your photos by category and automatically generate video stories that are easily customizable.
The Honor 8 Pro is available in Malaysia now with a retail price of RM1,999. The officially licensed e-store for Honor and HUAWEI, vMall, will be the first platform to offer the phone, followed by Honor Experience Stores and Display Zones on 12 July. First 100 customers that purchase the phone via vMall and share their purchase via a Facebook post will be able to redeem a powerbank worth RM128.
