The HONOR 30 series has officially launched; this time with three variants in the fold – the HONOR 30, HONOR 30 Pro, and the HONOR 30 Pro+ – the devices have already appeared on the official Chinese HONOR website and are available to purchase via Huawei’s Vmall in China.
The vanilla HONOR 30 comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ display panel that’s curved at the sides. You’ll also find a single 32MP selfie lens housed in a punch hole cutout. The HONOR 30 Pro and HONOR 30 Pro+ come with a larger 6.57-inch OLED screen with a dual selfie array (32MP+8MP) – and here we start to see a resemblance with its cousin, the Huawei P40. The HONOR 30 Pro+ also gets a 90Hz refresh rate display, while the other two models are stuck at the standard 60Hz panel.
For imaging, the HONOR 30 comes with a 40MP main shooter alongside an 8MP ultrawide lens, an 8MP telephoto shooter and a 2MP macro lens. The HONOR 30 Pro comes with the same 40MP main shooter with an 8MP telephoto lens and a 16MP ultrawide camera. The HONOR 30 Pro+ takes the cake by replacing the main lens with a 50MP shooter, while retaining the same array as the HONOR 30 Pro. This camera system is exactly the same as the Huawei P40’s so if you’ve gunning for a more affordable version of that phone, the HONOR 30 Pro+ is your bet.
It’s important to note that all three models support 5G connectivity, at least in its native China. The HONOR 30 is powered by a Kirin 985 chipset alongside up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage. The HONOR 30 Pro and HONOR 30 Pro+ comes with a Kirin 990 chipset, while the former only gets 8GB RAM, and the latter supports up to 12GB of memory.
In terms of batteries, all three models are equipped with a 4,000mAh battery with 40W of fast charging; meanwhile the HONOR 30 Pro+ also has added support for 27W of wireless charging.
The HONOR 30 series ship with Android 10 with Magic UI 3.1.0 layered on top – as per usual, you will get HMS instead of GMS on all three models.
The HONOR 30 is priced from 2,999 Yuan (RM1,842) for the base 6GB+128GB model, 3,199 Yuan (RM1,965) for the 8GB+128GB variant, and 3,499 Yuan (RM2,149) for the 8GB+256GB option. The HONOR 30 Pro will start at 3,999 Yuan (RM2,456) for the 8GB+128GB model, 4,399 Yuan (RM2,702) for the 8GB+256GB option.
Lastly, the HONOR 30 Pro+ will be priced from 4,999 Yuan (RM3,071) for the 8GB+128GB version, 5,399 Yuan (RM3,316) for the 8GB+256GB model, and 5,799 Yuan (RM3,562) for the 12GB+256GB variant.
In terms of colours there looks to be a green, purple, white, black and a silver that looks a lot like the Huawei P40’s Silver Frost.
There’s no word on when the phone will officially arrive in Malaysia, but we’ll keep you updated when it does.
