HMD, a licensed maker of Nokia smartphones, have officially launched its own branded smartphones to the Malaysian retail space, though it has been a while that the brand has retail its devices through its official store on Shopee and Lazada, there was no local distributor warranty and all thanks to Zitron, a well known mobile phone distributor, HMD smartphones will be officially distributed and supported by them.

Currently, HMD has three smartphones in its portfolio – the HMD Pulse, HMD Pulse Pro and the recently announced HMD Skyline, the brand’s current lineup are fitted with mid-range specs with an emphasis on self repairability, which customers can purchase certain spare parts and self repair them when it goes out of warranty, while the recent HMD Skyline brings a nostalgia throwback to Nokia’s Lumia devices with a similar design language.

Meanwhile, HMD will still continue to produce Nokia branded feature phones, which will also be distributed and supported by Zitron in Malaysia, the more recent model being the Nokia 3210, a 4G feature phone that runs on the Nokia S30 operating system while offering basic online apps, it retails for RM339.

With this announcement, it is unsure if current HMD devices purchased from their official online stores will be supported by Zitron as well, but if you want to purchase their devices on retail, the mid-range HMD Pulse Pro with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage will be available for purchase in most mobile phone dealers from August 30th onwards for RM739.
