HMD Global is rolling out Android 8.1 updates for the Nokia 5 and 6

It’s good to see Nokia hard at work to support their last year’s devices, as we have seen some companies totally ditching their older devices in favour of newer devices. It’s nice to know that HMD Global is now rolling out Android 8.1 updates for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 phones.

They have announced prior to this, that the mentioned phones will be getting the update back in December, but they will be getting the updates in different countries first with a global rollout to follow soon. The update on Nokia 5 comes in at 860MB in size and the Nokia 6 comes in at 930MB, we recommend that you connect the phone to a strong WiFI signal when updating the phone. Aside from that, the new update will bring about features like Battery Saving Navigation Buttons, Revamped Power Menu, New Settings Menu, and Bluetooth Battery Percentage. Other than that, it will also come with March security patch with the update.

The only phone left from last year to get the update is the Nokia 2, which should be announced in the next couple of weeks or months. There are no indications if these phones will get the Android P update, but the Nokia 8 might get the update.
