Dego Ride became the country’s first bike e-hailing service after launching one New Year’s Day – not to be undone by however, is the Grab, the region’s number-one ridesharing service provider as they launch their own GrabBike – aptly named too.
The service is currently available around KL’s Golden Triangle and beyond – KLCC, Bukit Bintang, Pudu and Chow Kit. This is a more interesting proposition compared to Dego Ride’s Putrajaya and Shah Alam coverage areas.
With Grab, you can expect more riders already, but it comes at a cost – for rides below 3KM are priced at RM3.70 with an additional RM0.30 service chathed. Dego Ride offers a flat RM3 for the first 3KM.
However, for every subsequent kilometre, Grab charges RM0.60 for a maximum of 5KM, and RM1 for additional kilometers travelled after. Dego Ride charges RM1 after the first 3KM. Plus, GrabBike also offers female passengers to request for female riders only too.
It’s likely that both services will expand their coverage areas to the rest of the Klang Valley, more riders will be needed to achieve that. Dego Ride has gone on to say that they’re also looking to hire more female riders to add to their repertoire; it’s an interesting time for us city folks this year.
