It seems that the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P will be the last of the Nexus line of smartphones from Google as the company looks to retire the Nexus name. Come the next batch of smartphones from Google, these devices will be going under the names Pixel and Pixel XL.
The Pixel name has been used by Google before of course, what with the Pxel C tablet and the now retired Chromebook Pixel. The first two devices that will be sporting the Pixel and Pixel XL name will be HTC’s 5″ smartphone codenamed Sailfish, and the 5.5″ smartphone codenamed Marlin.
Rumours are going on that the renamed Pixel and Pixel XL will comes with some new features that will be built over the vanilla Android experience that is offered by the Nexus series. Only time will tell if this move by Google is just a simple rebranding exercise, or something more.
