Most of us either love or hate autoplay videos on apps. Notably on Facebook, autoplay videos might turn out as a convenience to some, but at the expense of taking up your data volume if you happen to be on a limited cellular data plan. Thankfully, Facebook allows its app users to turn off the autoplay feature, or limiting the feature to work only when connected to WiFi. Google appears to be testing that feature on the YouTube app as well, but not on everyone’s devices.
According to Android Central, some users are experiencing the autoplay feature on their YouTube app. The feature takes place while browsing through the Home section of the app. It works similarly to the same feature on Facebook, with videos autoplaying without audio. A bonus is that the muted autoplay videos come overlaid with subtitles if you’d want to know more about what is happening in a particular video.
Just like on Facebook, users of the YouTube app will be able to turn the feature off in the settings, with the option to limit the feature to only when connected to WiFi as well. The autoplay feature on YouTube is known as “Play as you browse”.
Are you getting the autoplay feature on your YouTube app? Perhaps you are one of the chosen ones by Google and YouTube. Let us know if you’re getting the tested feature.
