Google has officially announced the integration of ShopeePay and TNG eWallet (an Alipay+ partner) with Google Pay in Malaysia, marking a major milestone as Google Pay’s first eWallet integration in Southeast Asia. The move enhances convenience for Malaysian Android users by enabling seamless checkout on mobile websites via Google Chrome, starting with selected online merchants.

With 88% of Malaysians using eWallets in 2024, this integration aligns with the country’s growing preference for digital transactions. It allows users to pay using their favourite eWallets without leaving the checkout page or switching apps—ushering in a more efficient and secure payment experience.

“We are excited to bring this new Google Pay feature first to Malaysia, a market with a thriving digital payment landscape and a strong appetite for eWallet adoption,” said Farhan S. Qureshi, Country Director for Google Malaysia. “By integrating with trusted local platforms like ShopeePay and TNG eWallet, we are localising Google Pay to match their everyday payment preferences, delivering a frictionless and secure experience when shopping on mobile sites via Google Chrome. As the first market in the region to offer this integration, Malaysia has the potential to set a new standard for digital payment innovation across Southeast Asia.”

A Frictionless Checkout Experience

The integration allows Malaysian users to select Google Pay at checkout or choose the “eWallet” option in Chrome when making purchases on participating mobile sites.

Users can pay directly using ShopeePay or TNG eWallet without switching apps, making the transaction process seamless and time-saving.

Key Features of the New Integration

Users can top up their eWallets directly through Google Pay, making it easier to manage balances and reduce the need to open separate apps. Soon, users will also be able to view their eWallet balance within Google Pay for added convenience.

For added security, a one-time verification will be required the first time users make a payment using their preferred eWallet via Google Pay. Once verified, subsequent transactions can be completed with just one click, eliminating the need for repeated verifications or app-switching.

All transactions made through Google Pay are protected by fingerprint or PIN verification, ensuring secure and trustworthy digital payments every time.

Supported Merchants

This integration is currently supported by merchants using Fiuu, including Nando’s and US Pizza, and those using iPay88, such as Alpro Pharmacy, TK Bakery, and Yoyo Bus.

As the digital payment ecosystem in Malaysia continues to evolve, this new feature empowers more users with greater flexibility, streamlined experiences, and inclusive access to secure online transactions. Malaysia’s position as the first market in Southeast Asia to adopt this integration reflects the country’s strong momentum in digital finance and innovation.
