Google Map’s For You tab is now available to iOS users

The Google Maps had a new feature earlier this year whereby users get recommendation on places to go depending on their preferences in the new For You tab. Though it wasn’t available to many other countries’ Android users and iOS users, that is all about to change as Google has now made it available to both segments.

The For You tab will be rolling out to over 40 countries for iOS users and more than 140 countries for Android users, and the tab consists of several recommendations on places to go to including entertainment places, restaurants suggestion and even travelling locations. These recommendations are based on each user’s preferences, which is obtained from either the user’s ratings on places they’ve been to or their search history.

The For You tab will be placed next to the redesigned Explore tab and the Commute tab, and it also allows the users to follow places and areas which will show updates and recommendations of the locations they’ve followed. The follow button is also a relatively new feature, where it is similar to the Facebook and Instagram follow button that allows you to be updated with whoever or whatever pages you follow, so in the case of the For You tab, users will get to see updates and recommendations from the places they follow.  They can even follow places that have yet to be opened to be updated with the opening launch and so on.

The For You tab will definitely be useful for Google Maps users, especially those who are indecisive and always take forever to decide where to eat, so hopefully it’ll reach the global users and iOS users soon.
